With a crucial role at the heart of families and communities, women and young women’s leadership is essential in finding sustainable solutions to global problems and injustices.
Through the YWCA, women are able to discover this potential, become leaders and use their power to create safe and secure communities. At the heart of all leadership development in the YWCA is an ethos that all leadership should be shared, intergenerational and transformative.
Leadership development opportunities such as the Young Women Leaders Dialogues held at all YWCA Regional Training Institutes and the World YWCA Internship Programme seek to expand the number of young women leading change for YWCA’s vision for a better world.
Every year, over 1.6 million women, young women and girls are prepared for leadership through the YWCA movement.
After more than a decade, the YWCA has effectively established a culture that values, upholds and promotes young women’s right to participate in decision making.

The Leadership Permanent Fund was established to endow YWCA development programmes for women and girls worldwide.
