YWCA YMCA Switzerland
The YWCA YMCA Switzerland has many faces. It is the national umbrella organisation of more than 300 local and regional groups with over 15,000 members. Founded in the Christian faith, the YWCA YMCA of Switzerland trusts in God, in people and in themselves to achieve great things. The empowerment of young people is the Association’s main concern, and its activities are aimed mainly at children and young people, providing the opportunity to experience shared community; and encouraging the use of talents, delegating responsibility and supporting the development of the personality. Participants of today are the leaders of tomorrow, making it a very young organisation. The leaders are between 14 and 30 years old, and they assume responsibility early on in life, both within the organisation and in society.
YWCA YMCA Switzerland is a non-profit organisation, and most of the work is done by volunteers. Countrywide over 5,000 volunteers work about 2,000,000 hours each year. It is a joint movement that strives to empower both genders equally. YWCA YMCA Switzerland is a committed and engaged member of the YWCA and YMCA, and is proud and grateful to host this World Council.
