Nairobi 2007 Call to Action: How are you turning the pledge into action?
YWCA of Peru helps address stigma and discrimination against HIV positve women
The Nairobi 2007 Call to Action highlighted ten critical actions to create change in the lives of women and girls around the world, particularly those infected or affected by HIV and AIDS. Silvanna Ayaipoma, General Secretary of the YWCA of Peru who is attending AIDS 2008, signed the Call to Action and reflects on her commitment to the Call to Action.
I had the opportunity to meet a group of HIV positive women for the first time before participating in the 2007 World Council in Kenya. This was for me the beginning of a journey full of learnings and blessings. Since that personal encounter I have become more involved, both at a personal and organisational level, with HIV and AIDS-related issues.
