ERM delegates elect new European YWCAs Committee
A new European YWCAs Committee was elected at the recent European Representatives Meeting (ERM) in Aarhus, Denmark.
Judith Vink from the YWCA of Belgium was elected as the new President. Vink brings a wealth of experience to her new position having served at the YWCA European level, World YWCA level and as a member of the World YWCA Board from 2003 - 2007.
Vink says the new challenge is an opportunity to give something back to the YWCA movement. ‘’It is my vision to realise the diversity of the European YWCA movement and promote it as a strength that can contribute to the YWCA global movement, ‘’ said Vink.
Along with Vink, the full European YWCAs Committee is as follows:
| Judith Vink | European YWCAs Committee President | YWCA of Belgium |
| Melanie Gentner | European YWCAs Committee Treasurer | YWCA of Germany |
| Pia Ohman | European Committee Member | YWCA of Finland |
| Thea Sogenbits | European Committee Member | YWCA of Estonia |
| Nataliya Ulyanets | European Committee Member | YWCA of Ukraine |
The European YWCA region had a number of reasons to celebrate in Denmark that included the affiliation of the YWCA of Malta to the European YWCAs and the 150-year anniversary dinner of the YWCA of Denmark.
"I hope we can refresh the vision that binds European YWCAs," said Vink. "There is a need to promote European YWCAS as some countries are not well known and the beautiful work being done throughout Europe should be shared; especially in the lead up the YWCA World Council in Zurich, 2011."
