Over 80 women and young women will gather in Arhus, Denmark for the European Representative Meeting (ERM) from October 14-19. The week long meeting will focus on ‘ Women on the Move: Women Migrants in Europe’ and will be an opportunity for member associations across Europe to discuss issues facing women and girl migrants in their countries.

“ European YWCAs have a long and proud history of helping migrant women across the continent. Since World War 2, member associations have provided a variety of dynamic programmes and services to migrant women and continue to do so,” said Natallia Alexsandrovich, World YWCA Programme Director for Europe. “The purpose of the seminar is to raise awareness and to strengthen knowledge of the European YWCAs members on the impact of feminisation of migration in Europe.”

Along with a skills training session on applying for European Union funds, participants will have the opportunity to experience a YMCA-YWCA Danish day with visits organised throughout Arhus that highlight the work of the YMCA – YWCA of Denmark.

World YWCA General Secretary Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda will attend the ERM business meeting with elections taking place to nominate a new European YWCAs Committee and a new European YWCAs President. Gumbonzvanda will also attend the celebration dinner later in the evening dedicated to the 125-year anniversary of the YWCA in Denmark.

The World YWCA delegation will consist of Aleksandrovich, Kirsty Kelly; World Board Member and President of the YWCA Scotland and Sarah Davies; World YWCA Communications Assistant.
