About the World YWCA
The World Young Women's Christian Association (World YWCA) is a global network of women leading social and economic change in 125 countries worldwide.
Organisational Structure
The World YWCA Council is the quadrennial legislative meeting of the World YWCA, which brings together over 600 representatives from over 120 member associations affiliated to the global YWCA movement.
Constitution
The World YWCA Constitution was revised during the Extraordinary World YWCA Council in Kenya, 2007 after a lengthy but valuable process of consultations and dialogue between national associations, local associations, the World YWCA Task force, executive committee and staff.
Strategic Framework 2008 - 2012
The World YWCA upholds strong values that include volunteerism, diversity, inclusiveness, accountability and integrity. YWCA social action, with its roots in the Christian faith, motivates women around the world to give through volunteerism and resources to improve lives and communities.
Our History
The Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) was the daughter of the industrial revolution, which, from the middle of the nineteenth century started the movement of women and girls out of the home and rural areas and into factories throughout the Western world.
