Strategic Framework 2008 - 2012

The World YWCA upholds strong values that include volunteerism, diversity, inclusiveness, accountability and integrity. YWCA social action, with its roots in the Christian faith, motivates women around the world to give through volunteerism and resources to improve lives and communities.

This World YWCA Strategic Framework for 2008-2012 is rooted in maximising the strengths of YWCAs in offering well-managed, relevant and responsive programmes and services whilst affirming the movement’s vision, purpose and core values. The framework builds on previous strategic plans and sets out clear goals and objectives to ensure effectiveness and impact.

From the global context and learning from implementation of the previous strategic plan, the World YWCA World Council held in July 2007 in Nairobi, Kenya reaffirmed the vision, purpose and guiding values of the World YWCA. It approved the goals and objectives of the 2008-2012 Strategic Framework.

As such the entire Movement is mutually responsible for the success of the framework that places Leadership Development and Capacity Building, Advocacy and Services and Good Governance and Accountability as the focus of the programmatic work of the YWCA movement.

Goal 1: Leadership development:

To build the leadership of women and girls to develop the
