CSW is the main global intergovernmental body that’s exclusively dedicated to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. Established in 1946, it serves as a functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). CSW is instrumental in promoting and documenting the reality of women’s rights throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
The World YWCA participates in the CSW event annually to advocate for women’s rights.
The 60’th session of the Commission on the Status of Women took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March 2016. Learn more about the YWCA at CSW here.
