the-young-women-s-forum-the-international-day-of-the-girl-child_mediumOn the eve of the annual International Day of the Girl Child, taking place on the 11 November 2015, young women leaders of the YWCA Movement have come together to celebrate the theme ‘The Power of the Adolescent Girl: Vision for 2030’ and to endorse the World YWCA statement.

The statement calls on all Governments to commit to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Governments must recognise the role of girls, adolescent girls, and young women as change agents in shaping of a sustainable global future and create safe spaces by the decision making table – leaving no onebehind.

The Young Women’s Forumis a Pre-Council event taking place in Bangkok, Thailand from 9-10 October 2015, in light of the World YWCA’s 28th World Council. The event is running under the theme “Bold and Transformative Leadership – Placing Young Women and Girls at the Centre”.

Young women leaders representing over 60 countries have come together to discuss the implementation of the SDGs, engaged in discussion of realising the World YWCA Envisioning 2035 Goal and Proposal and explored the subject matter of Intergenerational working methodologies.
