36.7 million people are living with HIV globally and over 50% of them are women. The World YWCA has developed a Safe Space model which enables young women and girls to access a rights based approach which protects their right to access accurate information about safe sex and contraceptive counselling, on how to prevent HIV infection and, if infected, on how to live positively.

On the occasion of the World AIDS Day, Malayah Harper, General Secretary of the World YWCA demands action: “On World Aids Day, the World YWCA and our movement, reaffirms our commitment to helping women and girls access their full sexual and reproductive health and rights. We must ensure that we leave no woman and girl behind in the response to HIV and AIDS.” The video is available with subtitles in English, French and Spanish if you click on the “Subtitles” icon at the bottom right of the screen.
