World YWCA Young Women's Internship Programme 2012: Apply today!
Applications for the World YWCA Internship Programme 2012 are now open! Young women leaders of the YWCA movement have an opportunity to participate in the internship programme that will place a strong emphasis on advocacy, communication, HIV and AIDS and young women's leadership.
2012 is going to be an exciting year to be an intern at the World YWCA as the movement will have met in Zurich in July 2011 to determine the implementation of the new strategic plan. 2012 will see the beginning of this implementation.
The World YWCA Young Women’s Internship Programme is intended to increase the number of globally experienced and trained leaders who will return to their associations to share their experiences and learning with their associations, and also to provide leadership for increased and improved understanding of what the world movement is all about. Young women applicants between the ages of 22-30 years, endorsed by their member associations, are invited to apply. The World YWCA actively encourages applications from young women living with HIV.
We are particularly seeking applicants with interest and experience in advocacy and communications around the key priorities of the World YWCA, including human rights, sexual and reproductive health and HIV and AIDS, violence against women, and young women’s leadership.
The one-year programme will last from January 23 to December 21, 2012, and provides a special opportunity for two young women to work as part of the World YWCA staff and volunteer team in Geneva.
The short-term advocacy and communications internships will provide four young women with the opportunity to participate in important sessions at either the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York, sessions of the CEDAW Committee, the UN Human Rights Council and International Periodic Review in Geneva, and other international events.
Deadline for applications is August 20, 2011.
