World YWCA opens call for 2018 internship programme

Passionate about women’s rights and global change? Apply for a one-year or short term-internship with the World YWCA in Geneva. Every year, the World YWCA offers two or more one-year internships and two short-term internships for young women from the movement.

The internships provide unique opportunities for young women from our movement to work as part of the World YWCA staff and volunteer team in Geneva. This includes opportunities to develop skills in advocacy through communications, programmes and movement building on the priority themes of violence against women, sexual and reproductive health and rights and HIV, and young women’s leadership.

These experiences are truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for young women to grow and develop their leadership. Not only will they benefit personally, but the internship programme is intended to increase the number of globally experienced and trained young leaders who will return to their associations to share what they have learned and to pass on their skills.

We encourage young women in the movement to apply by sending their applications to hresources@worldywca.org. All applicants need to have been active members of a local YWCA for at least two years.

Important note: The application deadline for the one-year internship positions is August 31, 2017, and the deadline for the short-term internship applications is November 30, 2017. The World YWCA will not consider applications received after these deadlines.

    Dear Sirs,

Endorsment letter should be signed by the local, here Polish YWCA. I have some problems because I have to sumbit references from the Polish YWCA. I found the website but all data were not updated for hundred years. I called the office but the woman told me that she is not responsible for that any more and she does not know who in fact is. Do you have any list of local coordinators? Please help me as the deadline is coming. My application is ready but I don’t know who should sign my endorsment.

    Best regards,

    Good Morning,

I am a Journalist working with the Rivers State Broadcasting Coporation in Nigeria.
I happen to attend YWCA nursery school and after then I never heard anything about it again in my place of abode, not even seminars organized by the body or programs sponsored by it.

How can i be part of this? I am sure there are persons like me who will be interested especially members of the Nigeria Association For Women Journalist, Rivers State Chapter who are engrossed in the advocacy against Violence against women and Girls, rape and education for less privileged girls in the Niger Delta.

    Looking forward to your response.

        Dear Yese Judith,
The eligibility criteria for the internship programme requires that the applicant has been a YWCA member for a minimum of two years, but the reason for this is to ensure candidates have good knowledge of the movement. Therefore, we encourage you to join the movement by contacting your local or national YWCA and they will advice on how to become a member. For contact information, please refer to our member associations list http://www.worldywca.org/ywca-member-associations-list/. Best Wishes!
