In honor of World YWCA Day, the YWCA Metropolitan Phoenix is hosting an event geared toward ensuring and increasing women’s voter registration. We will have Patricia Russo, Executive Director for the Women’s Campaign School at Yale, who will discuss the importance of social change implemented by women in politics. Our main goal is to increase the numbers of women registered to vote and encourage local women to pursue community leadership positions.
World YWCA Day is a day to embrace social change by establishing gender equality all over the world. The YWCA’s mission for World YWCA Day 2018 is providing women with encouragement to lead in politics and their local communities. By 2035, we hope to achieve gender equality by transforming the power structures around the world. Informing women about the importance of voting and getting involved in leadership and politics allows us to help transform these long-lived, unequal power structures.
