The YWCA movement and the World YWCA are all excited to participate in the 63rd United Nations Commission for Status of Women (CSW) happening in New York from 11th March to 22nd March 2019. The thematic focus for this year is social protection systems and access to public services for gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. In line with our objectives as a women’s movement, more than 100 women and young women will be coming across from the YWCA movement to participate at the many bilateral and multilateral events, giving young women a change to interact, discuss synergies and share their voices on different causes.

More than 30% of this delegation will be made of young women. The World YWCA will be a part of the Global Task Force being led by UN Women, taking the cause of youth engagement throughout CSW ahead. Young women and women from diverse countries of Australia, Canada, Finland, Japan, Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique, Nepal New Zealand, Norway, Palestine, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, South Sudan, Tanzania, USA and Zambia will come together along with the World YWCA General Secretary, Casey Harden from 8th to 16th March. The World YWCA would like to thank our key partners DFAT, NCA, Finland Government and Y Global for their support in bringing young women to participate in this leadership and advocacy initiative.

If you are attending the CSW and would like to network with us, please write to us at worldoffice@worldywca.org. We look forward to meeting you all there!
